What Happens If We Chew Food 32 Times | Benefits of Chewing

You may have heard that you must chew your food 32 times. Is the number 32 magical? Actually, there is no specific number of chews you should have before swallowing the food. The number is just to encourage people to chew the food a lot more than we do. To make sure that you chew the food enough, it is important to keep your vegetables crunchy or make sure that they have some texture. How many times you chew also depends on the food you are having. Ex. Poha, Upma, Rice are all soft foods that require very little chewing. The same goes for daals, soft rotis, and even vegetables which are cooked in a lot of water. but having said that its STILL IMPORTANT TO CHEW, because it starts an important process of enzymes from saliva being mixed with the food, and it affects fat break down as well as digestion and nutrient absorption of the food you eat. Ask yourself this, what have you eaten in the last few days which has required you to chew? In the past, you required to chew food more as most of the food was unrefined. Today, it is the opposite, most of the food we eat today is soft. Chewing food more is something that you must do actively in the beginning but as time goes by it must become a habit. To make a bad habit into a good one you must have Awareness (knowing the benefits of chewing). It helps in nutrient absorption, digestion, jaw structure, breathing etc. Benefits of chewing food: 1. Weight loss - when you eat slowly, your brain gives you a signal that you are full. 2. Breakdown of fats - When you chew slowly, the food is exposed to more saliva. Our saliva has enzymes that enable the breakdown of food. 3. Improves Gut Health - Chewing more helps your digestive system. Lumps of food are tougher to digest as opposed to small pieces. Improve Biting & Chewing Skills with ARK's Y-Chew®

The Y-Chew® is another great product to assist in oral exploration and to increase movement in the cheek, tongue, lips, and jaw. Use it to develop biting and chewing skills, to decrease oral sensitivities to textures, and to assist in the reduction of teeth grinding. The handle allows for an easy grip, and the extensions on the top part of the "Y" make it easy to reach the upper and lower back molar area. Each arm has a different texture: one smooth, one ribbed, and one with gentle bumps. Because the Y-Chews® are a non-food item, you can avoid the risk of choking while working on feeding skills. The handle measures 2½ inches and the extensions measure 1¾ and 1¼ inches respectively. Each Y-Chew® is constructed of medical grade materials that are FDA compliant and contain no lead, phthalates, PVC, BPA, or latex. As with all of ARK's products, the Y-Chew® is made right here in the USA. For more information on the Y-Chew: 🤍 For tips on how to teach biting/chewing skills using the Grabber and Y-Chew: 🤍

Chewing your food slowly might help you lose weight

A new study published in the journal Scientific Reports offers a surprising way you might lose weight - chewing your food more slowly. Researchers studied 11 healthy men and had them consume the same amount of food in three different ways. When they chewed the food for 30 seconds before swallowing, they had increased diet-induced thermogenesis, which means they generated more heat in their bodies during eating. It was a minor increase, but the researchers argued that done over a long period of time, slow chewing of food could lead to large changes. In addition to generating more heat, slow chewing might lead you to eat less in each meal. It also might lead to less impulsive eating behaviors. 🤍 Recommended Products and Resources: 🤍 Due to a large number of questions I have received over the years asking about products for health, injuries, performance, and other areas of sports, exercise, work and life, I have created an Amazon Influencer page. New 'chewing robot' helps develop softer food for the elderly

사람처럼 음식 씹는 로봇...노인 위한 식품 개발 앞장 Local scientists recently developed a robot that can measure how tough different kinds of food are... by chewing them. The data the robot collects are used to make food softer for elderly people who have a hard time chewing. Cho Sung-min reports. This robot was developed by researchers at the Korea Food Research Institute. With teeth similar to those of people, it emulates the way the human jaw chews food,... and by calculating the force distributed across the teeth, it measures the chewiness of what's put into it. Inside is a tongue and part that releases liquid... making it very similar to how our mouths work. The robot collects scientific data on how much force the jaw needs to break food down depending on its size, texture and shape. Researchers say that information can help make food more convenient for senior citizens who have a hard time with food that's chewy or tough. "The information collected using pre-existing chewing machines... omitted variabilities and took into account the state of the teeth of elderly people. We are trying to extract more reliable data that could ultimately help make senior citizens more comfortable when eating." The robot's main job is to chew food samples injected with a special protein said to make the food softer. So far, researchers have tested dozens of foods, ranging from vegetables to meat products. And the results prove not only that they can make any kind of food softer... but that they can control the softness as well. "We are talking about a technology that manipulates the softness of food without changing their physical appearance. We can make any food softer down to one-tenth of its natural toughness." Nearly half of all Koreans older than 65 have difficulty chewing, so experts say the robot has played an important role in developing and widening the variety of so-called "silver food," or food made for the elderly. Chewing all the food with your strong teeth

Chewing food thoroughly is as essential as having a nutritious balanced diet. Some vitamins can only be obtained from the food we have on a daily basis. Hence eating nutritious balanced food and chewing it thoroughly is crucial for healthy living and avoiding chronic diseases like diabetes. People with improper dentition face difficulty in chewing hard food items like fruits, nuts, meat, etc. Lots of studies have found that people with less than 20 teeth are consumed fewer amounts of nutrients than their daily requirement, which eventually results in chronic health conditions like diabetics.
